When a social worker, psychologist, sound engineer and computer scientist make music, they don’t sound like a pop band or a jazz quartet. Trial Off rocks as only a thrilling punk, funk, rock band can.
The foursome made up of Adriana Maranto, Oliver Strohm, Roland Voraberger and Daniel Slamanig have one thing in common – a desire to rock till the walls start to dance or they all drop dead.

As it’s impossible to reduce Trial Off to a single genre, their music is best described as “PunkFunkAlternativeRockGrunge.” It sounds like a lion hunt on the savanna, a storm over the cliffs of northern Ireland, the ripple of a house boat on the Canal du Midi, a dip in the boiling sulfur spring of a volcano.
A pulsating sound with gentle nuances, which slither around the driving beats. Surprisingly hard, surprisingly melodic, refreshingly different. There are sophisticated hooks and motifs, as wild as hard rock at its finest hour and clever, poetic lyrics with humour and depth.

The band, which was formed in 2003, is a creative work space and long-term experiment based on mutual inspiration, passion and friendship. Trial Off is authentic, a synthesis of decades of music and life experience that doesn’t cater to anyone other than itself and to pursuing its creative desires – a rare quality that impresses even rock sceptics.

When the lead singer takes to the stage, his voice spanning the octaves in time with the heartbeat of the band, they are an awesome, crackling firework with the power to carry away anything with ears or legs.

Adriano Maranta – Lead vocals, guitar, erhu:
Crystal clear, diverse voice. Raw vegetables to combat stage fright. Transforms the stage into a concert hall, theater, house of bedlam.

Oliver “Stromski” Strohm – Guitar, vocals:
Raging staccato riffs, nebulous wah pedal solos, endless echoes. Legs apart and strumming the strings with his head low.

Roland Voraberger – Bass:
Lets his bass dangle a little lower, putting his left foot forward and rocks like hell.
